Houston, like many large metropolitan areas, faces a significant challenge when it comes to its homeless animal population. The issue of stray and homeless animals is complex, but it's one that organizations like the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation are actively working to address. Established by the McCullers family, this non-profit organization is on a mission to invest, create awareness, and develop programs that advocate for the welfare of stray and homeless animals across the United States. The goal is to support shelters and programs that promote pet adoptions and continue on the journey to make Houston a no-kill city.

Saving Lives, One Transport at a Time
One of the foundation's flagship initiatives is the Animal Transport Program, which plays a vital role in rescuing homeless dogs in the Houston area. Through this program, the foundation can save over a hundred Houston-area dogs every week. For every $100 donated, an individual can have a hand in saving a local dog and helping them find their furever home. This initiative not only aids these animals but also alleviates the pressure on local shelters, allowing them to provide better care for the animals.
Second Chance Fund
The Second Chance Fund was created with the intention of providing immediate resources for injured or critically ill animals, ensuring they receive life-saving treatments. Since its inception, the foundation has helped over 182 Second Chance Pups, giving them the chance for a brighter future. Through this fund, the foundation demonstrates their commitment to giving every animal a second chance at a fulfilling life.
Disaster Relief Program: Compassion in Crisis
Houston is no stranger to natural disasters. They can be catastrophic, impacting both humans and animals. Recognizing the need for immediate support during these challenging times, the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation established the Disaster Relief Program. This program raises funds to provide emergency resources for animals and people affected by disasters. Since 2017, the foundation has raised over $165,000 for disaster relief efforts. This invaluable support not only saves lives but also offers comfort and hope to those facing the devastating aftermath of a disaster.
The Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation’s dedication to creating a world where no animal is left behind is evident in the impactful programs they have established. As they continue on their journey to make Houston a no-kill city, they inspire us all to be a part of their compassionate mission and to extend a helping hand to those who cannot speak for themselves.
