The Importance Of Routine Dental Cleanings For Your Dog Or Cat

Oct 12 • 2 minute read

Many pet owners may not realize that maintaining their pet's oral health is just as important as regular vaccinations and a well-balanced diet. Just like their humans, routine dental cleanings for your pets are essential for their overall well-being.

Lucky for you, we have exciting news for new and existing clients:

We now have multiple dental appointments available every week, Monday through Thursday!

Please note: Dr. Bolotov will be performing these cleanings at our warehouse, so our clients will be responsible for dropping off and picking up their pet.

1. Prevent Dental Disease

Dogs and cats can suffer from dental problems, including periodontal disease, gingivitis, and tooth decay. These issues can lead to pain, discomfort, and even systemic health problems. Routine dental cleanings can prevent these conditions by removing plaque and tartar buildup that can lead to dental disease.

2. Pain Relief

Pets can't tell us when they're in pain, so it's our responsibility to look out for signs of discomfort. Dental problems can cause significant pain for dogs and cats, affecting their eating habits and overall well-being. Routine dental cleanings can identify and address dental issues before they become painful for your furry companion.

3. Avoid Expensive Treatments

Prevention is always more cost-effective than treatment. Dental cleanings are a relatively low-cost procedure compared to the expenses that can arise from treating advanced dental diseases or extractions. Regular cleanings can save you money in the long run by preventing costly dental treatments.

4. Improve Overall Health

Dental health is closely connected to a pet's overall health. Bacteria and infections in the mouth can enter the bloodstream, potentially affecting vital organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys. By keeping your pet's teeth clean and healthy, you reduce the risk of systemic health problems and increase their overall longevity.

5. Freshen Breath

Bad breath is a common sign of dental issues in pets. Routine dental cleanings can help freshen your pet's breath, making those cuddle sessions much more enjoyable. Plus, who doesn't appreciate a little less "doggy" or "kitty" breath?

6. Enhanced Quality of Life

A healthy mouth translates to a better quality of life for your pet. When their teeth and gums are in good shape, they can eat comfortably, play without pain, and enjoy a higher level of overall happiness. A pet with a healthy smile is a pet that can live life to the fullest.

7. Tailored Care

Each pet is unique, and their dental care needs may vary. By scheduling routine dental cleanings, you can ensure that your pet receives personalized care. At Rollin’ Vets, our veterinarians can assess your pet's specific oral health and provide recommendations tailored to their needs.
